Towards Management Maturity Project (End Case Study)
Q1. In
your opinion. why is a process like PACT
especially important in the context of international projects?
An experienced facilitator will help in applying a PACT process successfully and
guide those that are with less experience and performance to understand where they
are in terms of a project strategy, scope, completeness, accuracy, and implementation.
Hence, in this situation the guidance and support, that project managers receive
plays a significant role in adapting change and complexity within the business
environment, especially from those who have enough experience.
Q2. What are the prerequisites to developing as an effective
facilitator?
To be an effective project facilitator an
engineering background is required with basic facilitation training skills, and
high communication, presentation techniques with creativity that enables him to
build better relations with teams and managers. Also, a facilitator must be
able to develop teams and moderate conflicts and have a long experience in
product development to successfully deal with technical or unfamiliar content.
He or she must have the ability to appreciate diverse ideas, and understand training logistics and
administration. All mentioned shall come together with a strong ability working in a
cross-functional (team, culture, project) and in a matrix organization.
Q3. How do the tasks of the PACT facilitator
differ from the tasks of an international project manager?
The difference is
that facilitators are there to
enhance the project manager qualifications regarding project management methodology
and procedures. In addition, they support PM with their main tasks, and in
dealing with criticism and tensions in teams, and overcome any gaps between
functions and local cultures. Also, unlike the project manager, the PACT
facilitator will accompany the project (product) from the development level and
through its entire life cycle.
