The Heartland of the European Union - Worlds apart? (Mini-Case Study: 10.1)
Q. Explain
the reason(s) for this mistrust in the light of diversity.
Having different people and cultures in the
workplace can lead to more tension. In this case study, when both parties
started mistrusting each other, miscommunication resulted in lowering work productivity
and motivation.
The Project manager of the Italian team raised up
the conflict based on presumed and uninformed stereotypes and took a proactive
approach leading to mistrust. Instead of allowing the issues to be clarified
and initiate a workshop from both sides to present cultures and address
differences, both teams didn't try to create an environment by promoting understanding,
communication nor positive interactions.
