Production transfer from Denmark to India (Mini-Case Study: 7.1)
Q1. Identify the reasons for the problem the project manager has.
The main reason
that the project manager didn't notice is the main culture gap between both
countries that affected the implementation phase process and timeline. In a
relationship-oriented culture like India personal presence is a must, and it is
very difficult to monitor and expect actions or results virtually. Hence, being
present and putting pressure and support will add more importance to the work
requested and people will feel more attention.
Q2. What would you have done to avoid this delay of two months?
People in this kind
of situation need more attention and monitoring with direct physical follow
up's to encourage them to process the required work. Here, I would've assigned a
Danish project manager in India to take charge of the physical monitoring and
to follow up directly with the main office. Of course frequent visits will not be a problem.
