International SAP Roll-Out (Mini-Case Study: 8.2)

 Q. Why did the team leader fail? Base your answer on the competencies and tasks of an international project manager as outlined in this chapter.

The effectiveness of international projects is based on the project's culture that will encourage creativity and the use of differences. In this case, the project manager didn't promote other cultures and wanted to function his own model. His efforts to apply his point of view was constrained by other corporate cultures involved in the international project. Hence, applying one strategy for all led to a lack of open communication and team misunderstanding resulting in project delays according to the time period specified.

The main PM task here was to ensure consistency between projects by merging with different cultures and aligning project strategies to those cultures.
